Our Surrounding Area
The history of Chesterville, has many surprising turns. I myself, being new to this Village, never realized that this was actually a very close and some what well to do area. We at Cal-alta.com thought it would serve our community to not only give you the present Chesterville, but also a unofficial version of the past. We will attempt to work closely with the people of the Historical Society to be as up to date with the information we have as possible. There has been few web sites written on the history of Chesterville, there are a few books in print and as much as I enjoy reading about the trials and tribulations of the past, I found I was asking more questions then answers I got back. The nunnery and the Catholic Church seems to be the center of our history here. Although we, the Chesterville Web Site, are more into the idea of attempting to bring more families to our community and to help it grow and prosper. The more we know about our past the more our future will come into focus. Until recently, I never realized just how well to do Chesterville was and all the business that were located here.
How the Loyalists moving into our area and then the Scots and then the big influx of the Dutch and how they shaped our past and present. Chesterville has and will always remain a thriving community and regardless what business may come and go Chesterville will still be here. We hope to dedicate this page to the beginning, let the future be written with the thought of the past. Remember what goes around does come around again. We will begin by giving you a view of the inside of our Heritage building. It was not always our home. It was a Police Station, Town hall, and the Fire hall. This building like so many others in and around Chesterville has been here a long time. We not only will bring you the past but also into the future, for the future becomes our History. We will try to give you a order from the early times to the present. This may take some time, and this site may seem to b ounce around a little until complete. Please bear with us while we work on our past. There are a lot of areas of interest and we will try and put them into some prospective. Our links will be a little disorganized also until all the links are in place. Check back with us and see how we are coming along.
